Kody Tobler is a 3 year old local child who has a rare condition that results in him having many operations. He spent his first 2 ½ years in hospital and has only recently been able to spend some time at home.
Kody has slept very few nights at home in his short life. He was born with many difficulties including gastrosis - a section of his intestine that formed outside of his abdominal cavity.
At the 2011 KidzWish Annual Charity Ball, Justin was presented with a new car to help with transporting Kody to hospital.
KidzWish General Manager Simon Davie said the car is an essential need for Kody, as his father’s car is continually breaking down, often with Kody in the car. The car he currently has is beyond repair and he is struggling to find money for a replacement.
Mr Davie said Justin (Kody’s father), needs the peace of mind that he can safely travel to and from Westmead Hospital. There are many stresses in his life and not having a safe car is always praying on his mind.
He said KidzWish currently provides medicine to Kody’s family at a cost of around $1,000 per month.
"We can’t take away all his challenges but we would love to be able to help with this one. A new car will both increase the safety and enjoyment of travel for Kody as well as reduce some of the concerns and challenges of his father, Justin. Above all, it will make a very sick child, very happy” said Mr Davie.
Juntin Tobler said it has now been 3 years of setbacks for my courageous boy. He is still with us fighting his way through life’s challenges every day. Kody has grown into a smart little boy and shows all the love in the world.
